PUNAKHA DZONG, BHUTAN

This is Punakha Dzong a Buddhist temple in Bhutan.Everything about the Punakha Dzong is beautiful and stunning.You have to cross the Punakha river on a swinging bridge to reach the fort which houses the monastery and the royal living quarters. The whole place is very majestic and decorative. It is quite a large space and it takes almost an hour to do even a quick tour of the place. The doors, windows and the courtyard are all so ornate and colourful. the statues are large sized and realistic. It has the most realistic Buddhist carving among the other fortress in Bhutan, you can feel inner peace once step in the temple.The Punakha Dzong, also known as Pungthang Dewa chhenbi Phodrang is the administrative centre of Punakha District in Punakha, Bhutan.In view of the healthy climate in the region, Punakha is the winter capital of Bhutan. Punakha is also the center of Bhutan’s second longest suspension bridge (Punakha Suspension Bridge) and is about 7.5 km (4.5 miles) by car to Chimi Lhakhang, the Divine Madman’s fertility temple. Constructed by Ngawang Namgyal, 1st Zhabdrung Rinpoche, in 1637–38 it is the second oldest and second-largest dzong in Bhutan and one of its most majestic structures.The Dzong is located between the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu river in the Punakha–valley.
